The atelier
From earth to object.
Atelier Proost is an independent Belgian ceramics studio exploring the boundary between functional design and sculptural object.

A simple material.
Endless possibilities.
Every piece begins with clay. Through throwing, trimming, drying, firing and finishing, that material becomes an object intended to live with — sometimes useful, sometimes purely visual, often somewhere between the two.
The approach
Rather than decoration, the focus lies on silhouette, proportion, texture and the natural character of ceramic materials. Pieces are produced individually or in small series. The process is intentionally allowed to remain visible.
No two objects are completely identical.
The process
01
Shaping
Most pieces begin on the potter’s wheel, where the initial proportions are established.
02
Drying
The object dries slowly before refinement and preparation for its first firing.
03
Firing
Carefully controlled firing cycles transform fragile clay into permanent ceramic.
04
Finishing
Surfaces are glazed, left partially raw or treated to emphasise the character of the clay.

The maker’s mark
A signature in clay.
The Atelier Proost stamp is pressed into the base of each piece. A discreet signature, part of the object itself.
Made in Belgium.
Every Atelier Proost ceramic piece is designed, made and finished in Belgium.
